Chieftain’s Leap
Chieftain’s Leap (Double Bay, Wakaya Island) – this site has a colorful history. It is said that in the 1830s, the chief of Wakaya Island and 22 of his men leapt to their deaths from this location on the western end, after a chief from a nearby village began to attack them. With that island being sold to European settlers in 1840, it is now run by the Wakaya Club & Spa, which provides guided tours of Chieftain’s Leap.
